The health condition of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, who is currently in the hospital in the town of Banjska Bistrica, in the west of the country, is stable, said the Deputy Prime Minister of the Slovak Government and Minister of Defense Robert Kalinak at a press conference.
“The prime minister’s health condition is stable this morning,” he said after the State Security Council session.
He noted that Fico is not completely out of danger yet.
“His transfer to Bratislava is definitely not an option at this moment,” emphasized Kalinak and added that he had spoken with the prime minister, but that it was a private conversation and that he did not want to say what they discussed.
Attacker Juraj Cintula fired several bullets at Fico on Wednesday, May 15, in the town of Handlova in western Slovakia.
Fico took over as Slovak Prime Minister on October 25. He was previously the prime minister from 2006 to 2010 and from 2012 to 2018, TASS reminds.
