Srebrenica belongs not only to Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also to the world – said Principal Deputy High Representative David M. Robinson during his first visit to Srebrenica.
He visited the Potočari Memorial Center where he paid tribute to the victims of genocide, and then held a meeting with the Mayor of Srebrenica Ćamil Duraković.
“My first visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina was in the 90s when I was in charge of refugees. Today, I visited the Memorial Center and it was really heartbreaking,” said Robinson today in a statement to FENA.
He pointed out that he had a great meeting with Mayor Duraković and that they talked about focusing on the economy, putting it at the forefront and how to overcome the past.
Mayor of Srebrenica Ćamil Duraković said that he discussed with the Deputy High Representative the general situation in Srebrenica.
“Robinson is the new Deputy High Representative and this is his first official visit to Srebrenica and the Memorial Center.
It was a chance to get to know each other and it was an initial meeting and I hope that our cooperation will continue,” said Duraković.
They talked about marking of the 20th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica next year.
“As for the specific projects, I will talk about them with HR Inzko when he comes to Srebrenica,” said Duraković.
