The union of healthcare workers in Sarajevo Canton made a decision on a peaceful gathering in front of the cantonal government building to express their dissatisfaction with the treatment of healthcare workers and request the payment of one-time aid.

The president of the Cantonal Health Workers’ Union, Senad Sadiković, said that they started a protest initiative when they saw that the director of the Health Insurance Institute increased his salary by 30 percent, even though they know the state of health and the service to patients.

He pointed out that the health care situation has been bad for a long time, and that the biggest problem is the lack of personnel.

As stated by the Trade Union, the protests are being organized with the aim of expressing general dissatisfaction with the attitude of the Sarajevo Canton Government towards healthcare workers and their request for the payment of one-time assistance to all workers in public healthcare institutions in the Sarajevo Canton in accordance with the Decree on the payment of assistance from the employer.
