Min.Lagumdzija - Mary Ann HennesseyDeputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of B&H and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of B&H Zlatko Lagumdžija spoke yesterday in Sarajevo with the Head of the Council of Europe to B&H Mary Ann Hennessey.

Lagumdžija expressed satisfaction for Hennessey’s visit and thanked her for the permanent interest of the Council of Europe for the situation in B&H, support and lending assistance during the last ten years, particularly in terms of democratization of the country, respect of human rights and the international position of B&H.

Minister Lagumdžija expressed confidence that an agreement would be reached soon around the implementation of “Sejdić-Finci” and changes to the B&H Constitution in accordance with the European Convention on Human Rights.

They exchanged opinions on other topical issues of B&H with the Council of Europe such as the appointment of representatives of B&H in committees and independent bodies of the Council of Europe, the elimination of ethnic segregation in schools (two schools under one roof) and the reform of the judicial system.

Minister Lagumdžija expressed the commitment of our country to continue to work on meeting obligations, not only because this is required for membership in the Council of Europe, but also for ourselves in order to accelerate the democratization of society, and the complex process of social and economic transition, and above all in the area of human rights protection, announced the B&H Ministry of Foreign Affairs of B&H.
