The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been informed that the suspect Pero Vincetic, born in 1968 (also uses the identity of Marco Vidovic), who is charged with war crimes and grave violations of international humanitarian law committed against civilian victims in the area of Orašje in 1992 and 1993, has been deprived of liberty in the territory of the Osijek-Baranja County.

As part of regional cooperation in war crimes prosecution and in accordance with the Protocol on Cooperation, the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina had previously submitted evidence to its colleagues at the State Attorney’s Office of the Republic of Croatia justifying the criminal prosecution of the aforementioned suspect who had been unavailable to the judiciary of Bosnia and Herzegovina for a long time and who, according to operational information, has been staying in the territory of the Republic of Croatia.

An Indictment has been issued against Vincetic, a former member of the Croat Defence Council (hereinafter: HVO), by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, charging the accused with war crimes of rape and sexual abuse committed in the Orasje municipality, as well as with other war crimes committed against Serb victims in that town, in 1992 and 1993.

Within the framework of regional cooperation in the fight against war crimes impunity, the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with its partner institutions, is undertaking activities to prevent war crimes from going unpunished due to the unavailability of suspects and accused persons, stated the BiH Prosecutor’s Office.
