Owners of restaurants in Strosmajerova Street in Sarajevo announced protests if they do not reach an agreement with the Mayor of the Municipality of Stari Grad Ibrahim Hadzibajric on returning the summer gardens in this street.
Resad Trbovic, owner of the catering facility in the street, said that they were trying to solve the problem through the documentation and wrote an appeal to the mayor’s decision to abolish the summer gardens.
“We wrote a request for the gardens to return three times, we even asked for a conversation with the Mayor. This is sad, Strosmajerova Street is now empty. The municipality is losing about 130,000 BAM for rents for summer gardens. Nothing was invested in the reconstruction of streets for more than 30 years, and they brought the plates that have been replaced last year from the site of Eternal Flame,” said Trbovic.
He emphasized that the owners and restaurateurs from Strosmajerova Street agree that they should draw attention to a problem in a democratic way, and they will do it on the protests.
“This kind of work and behavior towards hospitality workers is disastrous, this is not promotion of tourism. I think the tourist board could do much more to promote this beauty,” said Trbovic.
Trbovic is a member of the Association of Hoteliers and Restaurateurs of Canton of Sarajevo, which started a petition. So far, they collected about 3, 000 signatures.
