From today in the RS, around 400 medicines that are found on the list of the Health Insurance Fund (FZ) in the RS will be around 17 percent cheaper, announced the FZO RS.

This means that people who are insured and who are not exempt from co-payments will pay lower-payments for medicines. It is estimated that savings of FZO RS due to low prices of medicines at a yearly rate will be around 3.5 million KM.

The press release states that FZO RS reached an agreement with representatives from 16 pharmaceutical companies to reduce the price of certain medicines.

Of the 230 generic drugs found on the list, the price is lowered for 54 of them, or about 400 drugs of different commercial names. These are medicines for diseases such as heart disease, osteoporosis, blood pressure, epilepsy, mental illness, glaucoma, diabetes, thyroid and other illnesses.

Last year the price was lowered for around 300 commercial drugs. The spending of FZO RS for drugs that are given out with a prescription last year amounted to around 73 million KM and was 7.79 percent more than in 2011.
