After the British American Tobacco (BAT) recently took over the Rovinj Tobacco Factory (TDR), one more multinational company is looking to expand on the Balkan market. The owners of the tobacco giant, Philip Morris (PM), are interested in taking over the Sarajevo Tobacco Factory (FDS).

As it was found out unofficially in FDS, representatives of PM visited FDS on the 10th July, in order to ensure that the production capacities and possibilities of this Sarajevo factory were of high standards.

Another source, well familiar with the privatization process in the Federation of B&H, confirmed that owners of Philip Morris are interested in the ownership share in FDS.

“Philip Morris wants to buy 39% of the ownership share of the Federal ministry of the agriculture in FDS, and then to purchase 11% of shares on the stock exchange, in order to have a majority ownership of FDS”, as emphasized by our interlocutor.

Current price of the ownership share of the Federal ministry of agriculture in FDS, at the stock exchange, amounts to 21 million BAM.
