Enlargement policy remains an important instrument for the stabilization and security of the European space, said Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković at the panel “The Age of Multipolarity: Managing New Realities” held within the Dubrovnik Forum, stating that Croatia continues to advocate a credible enlargement process based on criteria, with strong support for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“We continue to advocate a credible process based on criteria, with strong support for Bosnia and Herzegovina and its European perspective, which is of strategic importance to us,” said Plenković at X.

Yesterday, the Croatian Prime Minister discussed with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset, the security challenges facing Europe today, from the war in Ukraine and the conflicts in the Middle East to migration and hybrid threats.

“The stability of the Western Balkans and our immediate neighborhood, the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the continuation of reforms and changes to electoral legislation to ensure the equality of the three constituent peoples are of particular importance to us,” Plenković told Berset.

During the 19th Dubrovnik Forum, the President of the Croatian Parliament Gordan Jandroković also met with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe.

Referring to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jandroković stressed that the equality of the three constituent peoples, along with mutual dialogue and cooperation, are key to the successful functioning of the country.

The completion of the Electoral Law reform and the possibility for Croats to elect their own legitimate representatives at all levels of government would be an important contribution to the political stabilization of BiH and success on the European path, he said.

He agreed with Secretary General Berset that the European perspective of the Western Balkans is an important factor in the stability and security of the entire Europe.
