The USA announced Sanctions for Dodik in the future as well

The Ambassador of the United States of America to the United Nations, Robert Wood, addressed the UN Security Council today, at the session held on the occasion of the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“At today’s meeting, we highlight the danger of ethno-nationalism arising from one direction. Russia is abusing this Council for its own purposes. The US calls on all governments to cooperate and use EU decisions to start negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina. All leaders should strive for Euro-Atlantic integration.” Wood said.

He added that the US encourages avoiding ethno-national agendas and promoting transparent governance.

“The destabilizing activities in BiH are against Euro-Atlantic integration and the Dayton Agreement. The continuation of the actions of some leaders, including Milorad Dodik, especially the denial of genocide, causes concern. Srebrenica was not a mistake, but an unquestionable fact that genocide was committed in Srebrenica, as established by international courts. “We welcome the High Representative’s decision to ban people who have committed genocide from participating in the elections. It should not be a matter of controversy,” he added.

He emphasized that politicians who insist on divisions are protecting their interests.

“Republika Srpska and Dodik are an example, accelerating steps towards undermining institutions and calling for the dissolution of the state. His dangerous actions and secessionist rhetoric threaten the peace and stability of the region. Sanctions against Dodik and those who enabled his anti-Dayton and corrupt actions will continue in the future in BiH ” Wood said.

He emphasized that the OHR has a key role in ensuring the implementation of the civilian aspects of the Dayton Agreement.

“Until BiH meets all the criteria, the Office of the High Representative must remain,” concluded Wood, Klix.ba reports.
