The Union of Metalworkers of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina made a decision to hold a protest walk on May 1 in Sarajevo to express the dissatisfaction of workers in the metal sector.

The May Day protest walk will move from the House of Trade Unions of Bosnia and Herzegovina towards the FBiH Employers’ Association to the Federation of BiH Government Building.

The main demands of the Union of Metalworkers of FBiH refer to the increase of the lowest net hourly wage in the Branch Collective Agreement for the metal sector from 4.40 KM to 5.68 KM, as well as to urgently introduce the Law on Minimum Wage and a set of fiscal laws into the parliamentary procedure.

The Union of Metalworkers announced that, if their demands are not met within a reasonable time, the Management Board of that union will consider and make a decision on further union activities, including the possibility of a general strike at the level of the metal branch in FBiH.

In this union, they remind that in September of last year they submitted a request to the Federation of Employers’ Association to start negotiations on increasing the minimum hourly wage in the Branch Collective Agreement, and that no negotiation meeting has been held to date, while the Employers’ Association made a decision at the end of February this year that there are no conditions for the start of negotiations.
