In Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a solemn ceremony marking July 1, Police Day in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was held today.
Director of the Federal Police Administration of the Federal Ministry of Interior, Vahidin Munjić, congratulated all employees on Police Day in the FBiH entity, while the family members of the fallen members of the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs expressed gratitude for their sacrifice, which must not be forgotten. He pointed out that the members responded to the most challenging tasks in the previous period.
“Soon, we are planning to strengthen the personnel of the department for cybercrime, and to initiate a working group with the aim of establishing a system related to the disappearance of children as well as receiving reports of child abuse in the digital environment,” Munjić said.
He pointed out that they achieve good cooperation with police agencies and judicial authorities at all levels in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“I want to send a message to all state bodies and institutions of our country that in the Federal Police Administration they still have a reliable partner for cooperation, and to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina to have confidence in the police officers who are there for them and who protect their lives and property,” he said.
According to him, the goal remains the improvement of efficiency and the permanent education of employees.
“The police were a symbol and will always be a symbol. You know very well that when the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina was attacked, our police officers were the first to defend themselves and then they were the first, and they were the first after the war,” said Federal Minister of the Interior Ramo Isak stressing that they will not allow criminals to cause harm or threaten the safety of citizens.
He pointed out that after becoming familiar with the situation on the ground, he started to amend the law on police officers and the law on internal affairs and everything else necessary to improve the situation and provide the best material resources for the police.
“The police must be independent and we will not allow any politics to interfere with the work of the operational police. The police will work independently and there will be no obstacles in front of them,” Isak said.
The Prime Minister of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nermin Nikšić, congratulated the members of the FBiH police forces on Police Day.
“You are the ones who put your health and your lives on the line every day. You are the ones who watch over our citizens, who in impossible and unequal conditions maintain order and us. You are the ones who are at the time of aggression against our homeland in the most critical moments , in the first days stood up for defense, received the first blow and traced the path of defense of our Bosnia and Herzegovina. That’s why we owe you thanks,” said Nikšić.
He pointed out that the policeman in every society is a symbol and an image of the society and the state.
“For every citizen, the police officer embodies the state, the system, that’s why you have a special responsibility to perform your job with honor, integrity, and dignity and to always be on a mission to protect each of our people without distinction. At the same time, the government’s relationship with the police reflects its relationship with the legal order and the country as a whole,” said Nikšić.
He added that the FBiH Government will be their support and partner. He emphasized that the police successfully respond to the ever-present security challenges, and that in these unstable times, citizens see the police as a pillar, a support, and invest their trust in them.
“I’m sorry that in your work you come across limitations, formal obstacles that hold you back, that’s why we will do everything to remove as many of these obstacles as possible and give you the tools to do the most for all of us,” emphasized Nikšić.
Matea Miličević, who has been in the Special Police Unit for five years, says that this calling is her love.
“Physically, it is demanding, one must be dedicated to that calling, but when you do something from the heart, it is not difficult,” she said.
The ceremony began with the formation of police echelons and the handing over of the report to the Federal Minister of the Interior.
During the ceremony, a short film was shown showing the process of training cadets at the Police Academy of the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as impressive details of police actions by members of the Federal Police Administration of the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs.
At the solemn ceremony, awards and recognitions were presented to deserving individuals and collectives who made a significant contribution to improving the work of the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Federal Police Administration of the Federal MoI.
