Sarajevo Residents comment on Schmidt’s Decisions

The High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Christian Schmidt, made decisions yesterday that annul the laws of the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska (NARS) on the non-publication of the decisions of the High Representative in the Official Gazette of the RS and the non-application of the decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH on the territory of the RS. The citizens of Sarajevo who were asked for their opinion agreed on one thing: “Nothing will come of it.”

They say that they do not see what Schmidt will achieve with these decisions, given that Dodik and his coalition partners have announced that they will not comply with anything because they do not recognize him.

“He reminds me of the old man from the third floor who yells at us because we are playing ball, and his only effect is to miss us when he pours a bucket of water on us. The hot potato has been transferred to the hands of the Prosecutor’s Office, but who is satisfied with the work of the Prosecutor’s Office,” said one young man from Sarajevo.

Another citizen stated that the only noticeable change is in the work of the High Representative.

“Inzko was mostly worried, and Schmidt started to do something,” he points out.

Moreover, another Sarajevo citizen points out that she is worried, and that her daughters are afraid because of the whole atmosphere.

“Nothing will come of it. We survived all this in Sarajevo. My daughter is scared and I don’t want it to happen again to anyone. And the fact that Dodik denies the genocide, he should have been arrested a long time ago,” she emphasized.

One senior citizen says it was a compromise, and another says the High Representative’s decisions are unclear.

“Decision was made, that’s fine, but the question is how much the other side will accept it,” concludes the senior citizen, N1 reports.
