Politicians in BiH refused an Increase of Salary to Workers

Deputies of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina who, at yesterday’s session, refused to include in the agenda and adopt amendments to the Law on Contributions in the FBiH and the Law on Income Tax in the FBiH, which would have enabled an increase in the salaries of employees in the real sector, were largely directly responsible for the poor material position of workers in the real sector, the departure of entire families from BiH and the lack of qualified labor, said the Association of Employers in FBiH.

Unfortunately, this is the realization of the worst scenario, they said.

“Even during the year 2023, the authorities will not do anything to reduce excessive workloads and improve the financial position of workers. By amending the Law on Contributions of FBiH and the Law on Income Tax of FBiH, we proposed a temporary solution that would enable salary increases in the real sector up to 400 BAM, with the payment of part of the contributions and taxes to the state. In this way, the biggest benefit from the increase would be employees in the real sector, and not the state through the collection of taxes and contributions, as was the case until now. This temporary solution would be valid until the adoption of new systemic of the law on contributions and income tax, which would significantly reduce the existing burden on the salary, which is among the highest in Europe. Unfortunately, people whose monthly incomes are higher than 4,000 BAM have not shown even an iota of empathy and understanding for the increase in wages of employees in real terms sector, who directly earn money and pay the deputies in the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament”, they state in the Association of Employers in FBiH.

The UPFBiH says that it will not give up its efforts to pass the key laws necessary for salary increases. At the same time, they call on employees in the real sector, as well as union representatives, to exert direct pressure on the deputies and delegates in the FBiH Parliament to adopt as soon as possible an increase in the wages of employees in the real sector up to 400 BAM.
