The Pomozi.ba Association organized the first humanitarian “Share & Care” bazaar today at the Youth Center in Sarajevo, under the slogan “Not to be thrown away”, with the aim of raising funds to help socially vulnerable and sick users of the association.
The spokesperson for the Pomozi.ba Association, Maja Arslanagić Hrbat, stated that today’s bazaar differs from the standard bazaars that Pomozi.ba organizes in its premises and yard, primarily in terms of location, but also in that it adds ecological value to the humanitarian story.
“We wanted to talk about the importance of reducing excess waste and show that nothing should be thrown away. Excess clothing that we receive, as well as some other things, can be repurposed, given a new life and a new purpose,” said Arslanagić Hrbat.
At the bazaar, visitors were offered donated clothing, shoes, books, toys and other items, as well as unique handmade products. Special attention is drawn to decorative pillows with Bosnian motifs, cushion covers, jewelry and other creative items created by repurposing discarded or unused materials.
Arslanagić Hrbat pointed out that the Association’s employees have worked hard in the past to create unique items from old T-shirts and other materials, showing how items that would otherwise be discarded can gain new utility value.
An upcycling workshop was also organized as part of the event, where visitors can learn how to repurpose, repurpose and transform old or unused items into something new, useful and unique.
“In this workshop, interesting cushion covers, pillowcases, jewelry and various other items can be created. The most important thing is that we help socially vulnerable and sick people who contact our association for help,” emphasized Arslanagić Hrbat.
She added that the interest of citizens in the bazaar is great, and that Pomozi.ba once again received significant support from visitors.
“A large number of people are here with us. Many came to support this story, and I am sure they will find something interesting for themselves or as a gift. On the other hand, citizens donate money to our boxes and allocate funds to help people in need,” said Arslanagić Hrbat.
The Pomozi.ba Association said that the bazaar, in addition to its humanitarian nature, also has an important ecological significance because it promotes the reuse of clothes and objects, a more responsible attitude towards the environment and the reduction of waste.
