Possibility for Joint Presentation of BiH and Serbia in Foreign Markets

The BiH Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Mirko Šarović and the Serbian Minister of Foreign and Internal Trade and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajić spoke today in Belgrade on the possibilities of a joint appearance of BiH and Serbia in foreign markets.

At the meeting, the two ministers spoke of the strategies of the possibility for a joint approach towards the EU. The Joint Commission opened the meeting for Economic Cooperation of BiH and Serbia.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign and Internal Trade and Telecommunications of Serbia Bojana Todorović confirmed this for Srna Agency.

Todorović said that representatives of BiH and Serbia during the day will speak of trade, agriculture, what the situation is like and where there are problems, as well as the opportunities to solve issues of non-tariff barriers.

The plenary meeting of the delegations of BiH and Serbia began under the framework of the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation of BiH and Serbia, and Ministers Ljajić and Šarović are the chairs of the session.

After the plenary meeting the Joint Commission will continue its work through working groups.

In the framework of the first session of the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation between BiH and Serbia a protocol between the Serbian Ministry of Health and the BiH Ministry for Foreign Trade and Economic Affairs will be signed, and acceptance of documents issued by accredited laboratories for the goods of subject to supervision.

During the session of the Joint Commission, the BiH and Serbian delegation should discuss overall cooperation, and analyze the current level of development of trade and economic relations in order to intensify the overall economic cooperation and improve foreign investments.

During the meeting they will particularly consider the possibilities of intensifying cooperation in the area of trade, investment, agriculture, transport and communications, cross-border cooperation, cooperation in the area of small and medium-sized businesses, cooperation in third markets, and other areas of mutual interest.

The session of the Joint Commission for economic cooperation of BiH and Serbia will be held in the framework of the Agreement on Economic Cooperation of the BiH Council of Ministers and the Serbian government, which will be signed on 27 March 2009 and enter into force on 1 April 2010.

After the protocol of the BiH Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations and the Serbian Ministry of Agriculture, Trade, Forestry and Water was signed on 6 April last year in Belgrade on mutual recognition and acceptance of documents issued by accredited laboratories for food and plant feed and mixed origin, the protocol that will be signed will cover water, diet products and supplements that are under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health.
