Federal Minister of Environment and Tourism Nasiha Pozder received the Swedish Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Helena Lagerlof for a visit, with whom she exchanged views on the successful cooperation to date and the possibilities for its further improvement, with an emphasis on environmental protection, sustainable development and possible greater exchange of tourists.
The Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism and Sweden have been achieving quality cooperation for years through support for projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and many of them are also being implemented with the support of international partners such as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), which Minister Pozder greatly appreciates.
The Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism emphasizes that Sweden’s support in the field of waste management is particularly important, including the development of the Federal Waste Management Plan.
Pozder particularly emphasized the importance of Swedish financial support for the establishment of the Regional Waste Management Center Eko-Sep in the Tuzla Canton, which plays a key role in improving the quality of life of local communities.
During the meeting, new initiatives for the declaration of protected areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as models for their efficient management, were also discussed.
In addition, significant attention was paid to the possibilities for increased tourist exchange, as well as to the European integration process of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a focus on harmonizing BiH legislation with the acquis communautaire of the European Union, especially in the field of environment and green policies. Sweden, as an important partner, provides expert and technical support in these processes, contributing to the strategic development of sustainable policies in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Pozder expressed her gratitude to Ambassador Lagerlof and Sweden for their continued support and stressed their readiness to further strengthen cooperation on projects of mutual interest.
Lagerlof confirmed Sweden’s commitment to supporting Bosnia and Herzegovina on its path towards sustainable development and European integration, the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism announced, according to the FBiH Government’s Office for Public Relations.
