image001The year of 2014 is a year of marking the beginning of the World War I all around the world. For the Austrian Embassy in B&H it was an occasion to present three books published in the last few years. These are: “Imperial and Royal army in the World War I” (published in English and German), “Bosniaks in the Imperial service” (in English and B/C/S) and “Jews in the Habsburg Army” (published in German). All three books deal with the history of the Imperial and Habsburg Army in the World War I and have a Bosnian-Herzegovinian component in common.

Ambassador Martin Pammer will open this cultural event and after his opening speech the books will be presented by the authors – Erwin A. Schmidl, Cristoph Neumayer, M. Christian Ortner and Hermann Hinterstoisser. The opening will be accompanied by the Army Orchestra of Armed forces of B&H, led by the colonel Tomislav Sušac.

A special honour on this occasion goes to the distinguished Bosnian historian, professor at the university, doctor Zijad Šehić who will give a lecture on the “Bosnian and Herzegovina and the imperial-royal army” subject.

After the presentation, music performance and lectures a reception for the guests will be held too.

The Austrian Embassy in Sarajevo thanks the Ministry of Defence of B&H for supporting this event by providing the space to hold it. The event will take place today at 19:00 at the Army Hall in Sarajevo. Everyone interested in attending this event and facing the past this way are kindly invited to come and take participation.
