The Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) concluded on Friday that Bosnia and Herzegovina will request from the Croatia to exclude the place of storage of radioactive material near the border.
The site should be excluded as a place for storage of radioactive and nuclear waste, and to provide another suitable location for their purpose in the territory suited, which is not close to the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The other conclusion is that the Chairman of BiH Presidency will send a letter to the President and Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, informing them of the above mentioned request of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina is obliged to inform the member states of the European Union and international organizations dealing with environmental issues on the issue and the request of Bosnia and Herzegovina through diplomatic and consular missions.
Trgovska Gora, that is, the former Čerkezovac barracks located there, is one of the sites that are being considered as a location for the disposal of radioactive waste from the Krško nuclear power plant, which Croatia owns and operates with Slovenia.
Bosnia and Herzegovina municipalities that are located on the border with Croatia and gravitate towards the River Una fear that radioactive waste from Trgovska Gora would pollute the environment on both sides of the border and harm the health of local residents.
