HDZ President Dragan Čović said that the meeting with the SNSD was very informative, with the primary topic being the current functioning of the executive and legislative branches at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the budget issue, and the southern gas interconnection.
“We are familiar with the dynamics that we should work on to complete some things. To try to put the budget into procedure for this year, because I think it makes no sense to enter May without having a budget. We also agreed to complete the story about the southern interconnection as far as this structure of the Council of Ministers is concerned,” Čović said at a press conference in Banja Luka after the meeting with the SNSD leadership.
He stated that the upcoming general elections were also discussed, and added that the HDZ has clear plans for what to do before the elections, and how to implement this project.
“Partnership and understanding are at a very good level and I think we can agree on most issues. There are issues that we cannot agree on, but they are not issues that burden us in any way,” said Čović.
He added that the aim is to ensure that representatives of the Serb, Croat and Bosniak people in BiH can exercise full constitutional equality.
“Thank you Dodik for discussing the position of the Croat people in Republika Srpska, where we also want to coordinate our joint actions there in this election cycle in some way, given our large numbers here,” said Čović.
The meeting between the HDZ and the SNSD was led by Čović and SNSD leader Milorad Dodik.
The meeting was also attended by SNSD Vice President Sanja Vulić, SNSD Secretary General Srđan Amidžić, SNSD Organizational Secretary Igor Dodik, and party officials Nikola Špirić, Ana Trišić Babić and Radovan Kovačević.
On behalf of the HDZ, the deputy president of the party, Borjana Krišto, and the vice-president, Darijana Filipović, attended the meeting, Srna news agency writes.
