The leader of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), Milorad Dodik, thanked Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić today for attending the opening ceremony of the new hospital in Trebinje, emphasizing that Republika Srpska could hardly have built it without Serbia.
“Thank you to Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and I ask that the chroniclers of today record that Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić is here. Thank you to all of you who came today,” said Dodik.
He said that everything that the Republika Srpska authorities are doing is a “serious approach and serious policy” and that they are handing over the newly built hospital in Trebinje to future generations. He added that it was not easy to build this facility, but that the RS authorities managed to do it using their own resources, using modern methods. He recalled that the RS political leadership, together with Vučić, visited the Spiritual Center in Mrkonjići today.
“And there, Serbia, together with Srpska and Trebinje, provided funds to renovate that space. We take into account religion and identity. In the city, you will also see the joint project Stari Grad, where Serbia invested funds, and then the kindergarten that we built two years ago. President Vučić also participated in that,” Dodik said.
He pointed out that RS could hardly have done all of this, as well as the construction of the hospital in Trebinje, without Serbia.
“We can hardly do it without Serbia. Before Vučić in Serbia, our students were treated as foreign students. Our patients had the status of foreign patients, Vučić made it all domestic and that we have the same treatment. This means to us not only because of money, but also because of morale and the message that we are one,” Dodik concluded.
According to him, the efforts that have been made in recent years, thanks to Vučić, have made RS and Serbia far more united than ever before. “We are not doing anything else here except opening a hospital. Serbs and members of other nations will be treated here, and there must be no discrimination. And there is no discrimination in the RS, nor in Serbia,” said Dodik.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said today in Trebinje that Serbia is committed to dialogue and will do everything to preserve peace, but that it is not naive and will be ready to defend itself against a potential aggressor from the region.
Vučić: I am not Slobodan Milošević
At the ceremony marking the opening of the “Saint Archdeacon Stefan – 9 January” hospital, Vučić said that Serbia “wants to talk and wants peace”, but that it will double its military capacities in less than two years, because freedom is “the most important thing for a Serb”.
“We know how to preserve the freedom of our country, without endangering anyone, and those who think that we are naive and that things will be able to go on like in 1941 and like many times in history, should know that I am neither naive nor stupid to believe them. That is why we are strengthening the economy and preserving peace, but we will be ready to provide such a strong response to any potential aggressor that they will never again think of touching the Serbian people. We offer talks and dialogue, but we will be ready to defend our homes”, Vučić said.
At a ceremony marking the Day of Republika Srpska – January 9, which the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina declared unconstitutional, Vučić said that “the dirtiest campaign and campaign is being waged against Serbia in the entire region, not only in Priština and Zagreb, which they are used to, but also in Sarajevo and Podgorica”.
He said that the authorities in Belgrade “understand well the new military alliance” of Zagreb, Priština and Tirana, stating that it is “real against the Serbian people” and that Serbs “should not deceive themselves and think that this is news in a day or two”.
“We see Zagreb’s attempt to put Podgorica under its complete control and to include everyone in a general anti-Serbian policy”, Vučić said in the presence of the leader of the ruling coalition in Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, and officials of that entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He added that he “wants to tell the people of Republika Srpska that difficult years lie ahead, that madness has taken over instead of rules, and that Serbs must survive in all this and stay away from the big guys and let them fight among themselves.”
“We must take care of those who have always stabbed us in the back, and not hide it from ourselves, not turn a blind eye or a deaf ear. They did not form that military alliance against Austria, but against Serbia and the Serbian people,” Vučić said.
He also said that “there is no most brutal lie that they (in the countries of the region) have not invented against him and against Serbia, always blaming it for everything, inventing nonsense and untruths.” “Regardless of that, Serbia is always ready to talk about the untruths they spread every day, and about the past that is painful for Serbs, Bosniaks and all other peoples who live here. But above all, we are ready to talk with Bosniaks, Croats and everyone else about what our future will be, always. Because peace is the most important thing,” he said.
He stated that Serbia would “do its best to preserve peace,” but added that this was only possible if Serbia was “sufficiently deterrent to all those who plan to endanger it in the future.” Vučić also said that Serbia had not chosen the easy path in today’s difficult times for the entire world.
“We could have, like everyone else, pretended not to exist or ingratiated ourselves with the powerful and strong. Serbia has always been and will remain something more than that. We will take care to preserve peace, we are small, we cannot hold too much grudge against those big ones, but we will always have the strength to tell the truth,” Vučić said.
“We will continue to support all projects at the level of Republika Srpska. We wanted to help at the level of the Federation of BiH, but they did not want our hand, our support and assistance,” Vučić said.
The newly built hospital “Saint Archdeacon Stefan – January 9” in Trebinje was officially opened today to the sounds of a heartbeat. The hospital was consecrated by Metropolitan Dimitrije of Zahumlje-Herzegovina and Stono and the Littoral.
The ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials of the Republika Srpska and Serbia, who toured the premises together with the hospital director Nedeljko Lambet after the opening. The opening ceremony was also attended by Member of the Presidency of BiH Željka Cvijanović, Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska Savo Minić, Speaker of the National Assembly Nenad Stevandić, President of the Parliament of Montenegro Andrija Mandić, ministers in the Government of the Republika Srpska, as well as the Mayor of Trebinje Mirko Ćurić.
The construction of the hospital in the Trebinje settlement of Pridvorci began with the laying of the foundation stone in June 2023, and more than 128 million convertible marks were invested in it. The new hospital in Trebinje is equipped with the most modern medical equipment, covering an area of 41,080 square meters.
It has more than 20 departments and wards and has 223 beds and modern medical equipment, Beta writes.
