Presiding Arbitrator of the Arbitral Tribunal for Brčko, Ambassador Clint Williamson, visited Brčko and Sarajevo this week and met with local officials to discuss compliance with the Brčko Final Award, reform initiatives and priorities of Brčko authorities, as well as the overall political environment in BiH.

Together with the Principal Deputy High Representative and Brčko Supervisor Jonathan Mennuti, Ambassador Williamson met in Brčko with senior Government and Assembly leadership and was informed about the ongoing legislative reform which will facilitate targeted budget allocations for infrastructure development, as well as measures to strengthen the capacities of the District’s Anti-Corruption Office.

In his meeting with the Brčko District Anti-Corruption Office, Ambassador Williamson inquired about the work of this Office, cooperation with other law-enforcement bodies and District institutions, and the development of local capacities for enforcing a firm anti-corruption agenda in the District.

On Friday, Ambassador Williamson and Supervisor Mennuti met with BiH Presidency experts. Williamson welcomed the commitment demonstrated by the authorities to promote an environment conducive to good governance reforms, infrastructure development, and the fight against corruption in Brčko. He reiterated that all levels in BiH have an obligation to support these efforts in line with the Final Award.

During his visit, the Presiding Arbitrator also met with the High Representative, as well as several ambassadors and diplomats, to discuss the overall political developments in BiH.
