Borenovic: RS is sliding towards Economic Sanctions

The President of the Party of Democratic Progress (PDP) Branislav Borenović said today at a press conference that yesterday’s official announcement by the German Embassy on the suspension of four projects in the Republika Srpska worth more than 200 million BAM confirms the worst suspicions, namely that the RS is sliding towards economic sanctions that affect local communities and citizens, and least of all, or not at all, figures from the ruling structures.

According to him, this is one of the chain reactions.

“First, we recently received information from Brussels that out of the 600 million BAM in grants intended for BiH, not a single stamp is coming to the RS. Now Germany is permanently giving up financing of four important projects,” stated Borenović.

He says that the fact that Germany is one of the largest foreign trade partners of Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina adds weight.

“Germany together with Serbia, Croatia, Italy and Slovenia accounts for 65 percent of the total exports of Republika Srpska. It is one of the five countries to which the RS exports the most and with which it has the largest foreign trade balance. And that country officially announces that it is abandoning four projects in the RS, which sends an extremely bad message. It is clear that there is neither wisdom, nor seriousness, nor responsibility in the ruling structures that have brought us into serious isolation and a kind of economic sanctions,” said Borenović.
