Prices in almost All Sectors in Republika Srpska Entity recorded an Increase

Prices of garbage removal, gas and cigarette have recorded the highest increase in July in Republika Srpska (RS), compared to the same period last year, according to the entity’s Bureau of Statistics.

The highest annual price increase in July 2019 was recorded in the section alcoholic beverages and tobacco by 5.5 percent, due to higher prices of cigarettes by 7.6 percent, then in the housing sector by 3.9 percent due to higher prices in groups 12.8 percent gas and 9.7 percent garbage collection services.

Newspapers and magazines went up by 5.1 percent, while higher prices in the healthcare section of 0.8 percent were recorded in the pharmaceuticals group by 1.2 percent.

In July, prices increased in the catering industry by 0.7 percent, while food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 0.5 percent, due to higher prices in the bread and cereals groups by 3.0 percent and 1.7 percent fresh vegetables.

Higher amounts of money are also needed to be allocated for furniture (1.4 percent increase in prices), while transportation services increased by 2.7 percent.

In the communication and education sections, prices remained unchanged on average.

The biggest fall in prices in July 2019 compared to the same month last year was recorded in the clothing and footwear section by 12.9 percent, due to seasonal reductions in clothing and footwear during the year, while lower prices were also recorded in insurance by 5.1 percent.
