prijedorYesterday in the locality of Čarakovo, in the municipality of Prijedor, the exhumation of the remains of a five year old girl was done.

“It is assumed that the remains belong to Emira Mulalić, who was killed in the Trnopolje concentration camp in 1992. Parents of five year old Emira have been searching for the remains of their daughter for 23 years,” said the spokesperson of the Missing Persons Institute of B&H, Ms. Lejla Čengić.

After the exhumation, the remains were transported to the Center for autopsy and identification Šejkovača in Sanski Most, where forensic and crime sample processing will be performed, and bone samples will be taken for DNA analysis to establish the identity of the exhumed victim.

Čengić said that at the site of the Hambarine cemetery, in the municipality of Prijedor, re-exhumation took place in order to obtain bone samples for DNA analysis.

“Exhumed remains were returned to the same place where they shall remain until DNA analysis identifies the re-exhumed remains,” said Čengić.

The exhumation and re-exhumation on these two sites, by the order of the Court of B&H, was managed by the Prosecutor’s Office of B&H.
