Prisoners to choose in which Entity they want to serve their Sentence

Cell in AlcatrazAssistant Minister of Justice of Republika Srpska Pero Dunjic said that they obtained assurances from the Department of Justice of FBiH that by the end of June it will be legally allowed for prisoners to move from one entity to another.

“They promised that they will resolve this issue in the law, through amendments, at the end of June, so that the persons convicted by the court in the RS and cantonal courts in the FBiH will be able to serve their sentences according to their place of residence,” said Dunjic.

He said that 55 convicted persons of Serbian nationality, who reside on the territory of RS, are serving their sentences in the correctional facilities in the FBiH,” as reported by “Glas Srpske”.

“Of this number, 35 prisoners are serving their sentences in the penal-correctional Institution Zenica (KPZ),” added Dunjic.

According to him, 5 convicted persons who are residents of the FBiH are serving their sentences in the RS.
