An investigator from the Special Department for War Crimes is present at the site in Kamenicko Brdo in the Bratunac municipality, where he coordinates the activities and the process of exhumation, in accordance with the request of a Prosecutor from the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina in charge of the case and pursuant to an order of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The aforementioned location is attended by a forensic pathologist and representatives of the Missing Persons’ Institute (MPI) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as necessary workers, whereas police officers of the Bratunac Police Station are securing the location.

The mortal remains found at this location are presumed to belong to the victims from the past war, and the process of exhumation will determine the number of mortal remains present at the said location.

Following the exhumation, the mortal remains will be forwarded to Tuzla for further forensic processing and identification of missing persons through DNA analysis.

Representatives of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and officers from partner institutions and agencies involved in the process of searching for missing persons participate together in exhumation processes in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
