UN Rapporteur for Culture to visit BiH

unSpecial UN Rapporteur for Culture Farida Shahid will visit BiH from 13 to 24 May in order to assess the provision of law in the field of culture, access to cultural heritage and facilitating participation in the cultural life to all citizens .She stated that the rights in the field of culture are very important to support peace and development, and emphasized the crucial role that artists and cultural institutions in this regard have, said the UN in Bosnia.

‘I’m very interested how the culture laws are being implemented, having in mind policies of solving the legacy of war and building social connection with mutual respect and understanding of difference’, said Shahid.

During her stay in BIH, she’ll meet with all major people who deal with culture; scholars, artists and representatives of civil society.

She was invited by BiH Council of Ministers, and will visit Sarajevo, Mostar, Jajce, Banja Luka, Brčko and Srebrenica, and she’ll visit numerous monuments, museums and other landmarks.
