meetingMembers of the Collegium of House of Representatives and House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly met yesterday with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic during his official working visit to BiH with his associates.

In an open discussion, the hosts expressed their satisfaction that the relations between BiH and Croatia have no significant problems and are in the ascending line and that they expect that a small number of opened issues will be resolved in a good atmosphere in the near future. They also expressed satisfaction with the fact that the new Prime Minister Plenkovic chose BiH for his first official visit, which confirms that relations with our country and Euro-Atlantic path of BiH are among the highest foreign policy priorities of Croatia. Members of the Collegium of House of Representatives and House of Peoples thanked for the support of Croatia in the processes of reforms of our country.

As stated yesterday, BiH can expect a lot of work in the upcoming period  in order to establish a better constitutional structure, implement the judgment of the European Court of Human Rights and the Constitutional Court of BiH, as well as to adapt the provisions of the Election Law of BiH. In this way, as said, it opens better space for socio-economic reforms which often remain shadowed by outstanding political issues.

In early December, according to yesterday’s talks, is expected arrival of the Questionnaire of the European Commission to prepare the opinion on the application for membership of our country in the EU. Based on our response will be assessed the readiness of BiH to gain candidate status and open accession negotiations with the EU. Plenkovic offered all necessary assistance in answering because it is a process that Croatia successfully completed in the recent past.

Members of both homes expressed satisfaction with the fact that the relations between the parliaments of BiH and Croatia are very good, which is in line with the policy of BiH to constantly improve the cooperation with neighboring countries to a higher level. At the same time, they emphasized the need for the two friendly countries and continue the good cooperation at the regional level.
