Protocol on Cooperation in the search for missing persons between Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Government of Montenegro was signed in Sarajevo. During the signing ceremony, BiH’s Minister for Human Rights and Refugees Semiha Borovac and Minister of Labor and Social Welfare of Montenegro Kemal Purisic signed the agreement, aiming to persist in cooperation in the search for missing persons between the two countries.
For her part, Borovac expressed strong desire in mitigating the consequences of the war in former Yugoslavia, and also to affirm the right of families to find out the truth about their missing members.
“This is very important for both countries and contributes to creating reconciliation, confidence and stability in the region,” said Borovac.
She noted that signing of this Protocol affirms regional cooperation in the search for missing persons, since BiH has previously signed this type of protocols with the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Croatia.
Organization in BiH are still searching for a total of 29 persons on the territory of Montenegro, and that 12 persons have been identified so far, of which 17 are still being searched for.
On the other side, Montenegro is still searching for 10 missing persons in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
For the end of meeting, Borovac noted that 31,500 missing persons were verified in BiH, and that 7,500 are still being searched for, Federal News Agency reports.
