The public debt of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the end of last year amounted to 13,829,000,000 BAM of which the external debt is 9,802,000,000 BAM, and the internal debt is 3,206,000,000 BAM.
The total public debt increased by 151.21 million BAM or 1.18 percent compared to the same period in 2021, with the external debt increasing by 64.67 million BAM, and the internal debt by 86.54 million BAM, it was stated in the report of the Ministry of Finance and Treasury of BiH, which will be considered tomorrow at the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.
In the total state of public indebtedness, the Federation of BiH participates with 50.16 percent, Republika Srpska with 48.86 percent, institutions of BiH with 0.61 percent and Brčko District with 0.37 percent.
The external debt service of BiH last year amounted to 864 million BAM, of which 695 million or 80.40 percent refers to the principal, and 169 million BAM or 19.60 percent to the interest.
In the total amount of foreign debt service, the Federation of BiH participates with 62.97 percent, the Republika Srpska with 35.36 percent, and the Brčko District and institutions of BiH with 0.89 and 0.78 percent, respectively.
The share of BiH public debt in the gross national product last year was 29.17 percent, according to the report.
