Observation of the Sun radiosarajevo.baAstronomic Society “Orion” yesterday organized a public observation of the Sun in the Sarajevo settlement Dobrinja.

Visitors had a chance to observe the Sun through a telescope with specialized and safe filters, as well as to socialize and talk to the organizers about different cosmic appearances and other interesting topics.

“Changes on the Sun occur daily, on its surface, the photosphere, and on the edges and that is a beautiful thing to see. Regarding the sunspots, there is currently no visible sunspots,” said the Vice-President of the Society “Orion” Adela Subašić-Kopić.

According to Subašić-Kopić, events such as the public observation of the sun contribute to the popularization of astronomy, which is nowadays one of the most popular and most dynamic sciences.

Furthermore, she added that this society continues popularizing astronomy especially among young people through courses, lectures, public observations, publishing activities and other projects.

Activities regarding the reconstruction of the famous observatory on Trebević mountain, as “the lighthouse of one city and one state”, are still in focus, Subašić-Kopić said.
