US representatives are expected to arrive in Moscow in the first half of next week for talks on ending the war in Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday.

He was speaking at the end of a visit to Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.

Putin said the Russian side would be represented by officials from the Foreign Ministry and the presidential administration, adding that his aides Vladimir Medinsky and Yuri Ushakov would be among them.

The talks would cover extremely large and complex issues, and each issue is of key importance, he stressed.

According to the Kremlin, Steve Witkoff, US President Donald Trump’s special envoy, is expected in Moscow next week. Putin and Witkoff have met on several occasions.

The Russian president confirmed his readiness to hold talks on Trump’s 28-point proposal to end the war, saying it could be the basis for a future peace agreement.

Putin made it clear once again that Russia needs to have full control over the entire Donbas region of Ukraine before a ceasefire.
