Russia and the United States have agreed on a meeting between the presidents of the two countries, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, in the coming days, Russian TASS reports.

“Work on the summit has now begun,” Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters.

The venue for the meeting of the heads of state has also been agreed, and according to Russian officials, it will be announced later.

“At the suggestion of the American side, an agreement has been reached in principle to hold a bilateral meeting at the highest level in the coming days, namely a meeting between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump,” the diplomat said.

“Now, together with our American colleagues, we are starting concrete work,” Ushakov added.

US President’s special envoy Steve Witkoff held a meeting with Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Wednesday. Donald Trump had earlier stepped up his rhetoric against Russia and announced the introduction of additional sanctions for failing to reach an agreement on ending the war in Ukraine.
