Convicted war criminal Radovan Karadžić (79), who is serving a life sentence in Albany Prison on the Isle of Wight in Great Britain, recently decided to sue the United Kingdom government for inhumane treatment of him, writes the Daily Mail.
He is complaining because he is not allowed to bring a laptop into his cell, and he is asking the government to pay him 50,000 pounds (58,000 euros) due to human rights violations. He also claims that he is forbidden to communicate in his native Serbian language.
Last week he appeared in court via video link to sue Secretary of State for Justice Shabana Mahmood.
Three years ago, Karadžić was transferred from the Netherlands to Britain to serve his sentence.
The Daily Mail reminds us that Karadzic is responsible for some of the worst crimes committed in Europe since the end of World War II, including the massacre of more than 8,000 men and boys in the Srebrenica genocide.
He was found guilty of genocide in the area of Srebrenica in 1995, persecution and murder of Bosniaks and Croats throughout BiH, terrorizing the population of Sarajevo with shelling and sniper fire, and taking members of international peacekeeping forces hostage.
He was initially sentenced to 40 years in prison at the International Criminal Court in The Hague, but his sentence was later increased to life.
