The commemoration of Ratko Mladić, a legally convicted war criminal responsible for the most serious violations of humanitarian law and for the genocide in Srebrenica, was held at the Army House in Belgrade.
On Monday, he will be buried at the Topčider cemetery. Some politicians from the RS announced their attendance at the funeral, while Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said that he would not be able to attend due to his earlier commitments.
At the commemoration “objective analysis”
On the third day after the coffin with the body of Ratko Mladić was brought to the House of the former JNA, a commemoration was held. About the deceased, as the unwritten rule dictates, all the best.
“An objective expert analysis of the causes, course and consequences of the tragic conflicts and senseless war in these areas in the 1990s, without any bias, unequivocally shows that General Ratko Mladić is a person who, due to his great contribution to the defense of his people, deserves to occupy a dignified place in history alongside famous Serbian dukes, generals, soldiers, other heroes and fighters for the freedom and defense of his country,” said Lieutenant-Colonel Branko Krga.
A delegation from RS also attended
In addition to the already regularly present Minister of Justice of Serbia, Republika Srpska sent a strong delegation.
“When we talk about history, in the context of General Ratko Mladić, that historical moment that is in all of our hearts, which marked his path, and ours, and that of all the warriors, and all those who fought for freedom, is 1389, is the battle in Kosovo. And it is on these ideals, on the Kosovo pledge, that in 1992, General Ratko Mladić stands at the head of the Serbian people in the Republika Srpska, stands at the head of all of us and takes on a huge burden and a huge obligation himself to preserve the Republika Srpska, to preserve the territory, to preserve the people, to be responsible for every soldier and every civilian”, said Radan Ostojić, Minister of Labor and Veterans’ and Disability Protection in the Government of the RS.
Shameful allegations of genocide
According to one of the speakers, Srebrenica was a project, but not Mladić’s, as the Serbs would be accused.
“And it is a project. The first goal was to enable the Ustasha to get as close as possible to the Drina, and the second goal was to model and impose the mortgage of genocide on the Serbian people. This was all agreed upon before the start of anything, the intelligence we had existed and you can see what was agreed and why it was carried out,” said retired general Živojin Ninković.
Primer, poems and freedom
At the end, Ninković spoke about young people and their future.
“When we have a poem about Ratko Mladić on the first page of the primer, for children of seven years old, and that’s how the primer begins, we will only then be a free people,” said Ninković. God also said to rest on Sundays. There is still a funeral on Monday.
