Red Army, the loyal group of fans of the FC Velež, the club that is going through a rough time now, made a fantastic atmosphere in Mostar on the occasion of the celebration of the 35th birthday of this fan group.
Red Army made a great pyro show in the Stari Most and celebrated the “new year” with fan songs. Apart from the celebration on the beautiful Stari Most, the fans also visited other parts of the city and lit up the torches. Great atmosphere was also on the Carinski and the Titov Bridge.
Regardless of the fact that their team is currently on the bottom of the BHT Premier League and that it is almost certainly going to degrade into the lower rank of the competition, the fans believe that the club will return the old glory one day, the glory it had before the dark beginning of the nineties of the last century.
The beginning of Red Army is usually connected with the year 1981, when the group was primarily called “Red Devils” and when Velež defeated Željezničar in the finals of the Cup of Marshal Tito with a result of 3:2. The group experienced a real boom in 1986, when the club won the new title in the Cup after defeating Dinamo Zagreb in the finals.
