Majed bin Mohammed Al-Ansari, the official spokesman for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that reports of Qatar’s withdrawal from the mediation talks for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip were incorrect.

He stressed that Qatar continues to make efforts in the negotiations between Hamas and Israel, but warned that these efforts have stalled due to the lack of a common position between the conflicting parties.

He stressed that the current humanitarian crisis, which affects civilians and causes suffering for women and children, requires additional efforts to resolve the difficult circumstances. Al-Ansari stressed that Qatar will continue to make efforts to resolve this crisis and release prisoners.

In a statement to the QNA news agency, Al-Ansari explained that Qatar has been mediating for a permanent ceasefire since the beginning of the conflict, emphasizing that this mediation aimed to protect civilians, especially women and children. He also stressed that the negotiations include political obstacles, which are slowing down progress.

The spokesman reiterated Qatar’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian people and their right to an independent state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
