It will take two to three months to rehabilitate the railway line in the area of Jablanica in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, which was damaged in the recent floods, it was stated for Hina news agency from the Railways of the Federation of BiH.

It was said that the greatest damage occurred on the section of the railway line between the settlements of Donja Jablanica and Grabovica, where the greatest number of people died in floods and landslides.

“Our estimates are that it will take a minimum of two to three months to establish rail traffic on the section of the Donja Jablanica-Grabovica railway line,” stated Railways, noting that in several places the railway line was literally turned into a suspension bridge due to being completely washed away by the torrents and large amounts of stones damaged the track and railway infrastructure.

From the Public Enterprise Railways of the Federation of BiH, they said that the estimated damage is around 2.5 million euros, and that the entity Government of the Federation of BiH will provide the funds for the reconstruction.

The biggest damage from the suspension of railway traffic is the Railway of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the Port of Ploče, as well as a large number of companies in the central part of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It is estimated that about 400,000 tons of various goods for the needs of companies from Bosnia and Herzegovina are stored in the Port of Ploče.

The goods that have been transported by rail so far include coal, coke, oil, steel products, sugar, as well as other types of goods in container transport, said the Railways of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
