Rainfall caused new Problems, Rivers overflowed in Several Cities

Due to melting snow and heavy rainfall that have affected most of Bosnia and Herzegovina in recent days, rivers have flooded in some places, causing numerous problems.

The Sava River Basin Agency has published a forecast of an emergency hydrological state for the period from 25 to 27 November 2025. As they stated, due to the forecast of heavier rainfall in Herzegovina, western and central Bosnia, water levels are expected to rise in most of the Sava River Basin in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Flooded houses in Bugojno

The river overflowed in the Bugojno area, flooding several houses and endangering some.

According to Perica Pejak, acting assistant to the head of the Civil Protection Service of the Bugojno Municipality, the rain did not stop falling during the night, which further aggravates the situation.

Several households in Jezero are at risk

The Jošavka and Pliva rivers have overflowed their banks, causing flooding that has endangered several households.

The mayor of the municipality, Snežana Ružičić, said that patients are unable to access the Family Medicine Clinic, and that the route of part of the M5 highway, as well as the regional road where traffic is difficult, is at risk.

A family evacuated in Donja Drežnica

During the night on the Drežanka River, north of Mostar, water spilled onto the road in Drežnica below the swimming area, and in Donja Drežnica – Novo Naselje, water threatened a house, which is why one family was evacuated during the night.

The Civil Protection Operations Center of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton has put emergency flood protection measures in force on the Trebižat River.

Also, regular flood defense measures are in force on the Neretva River in Glavatičevo, on the Buna River and on the Radobolja River.

Sana spilled out of the riverbed, the water level of Ribnik rose

In Ribnik, the Sana river overflowed its banks, and the water level of the Ribnik river is also rising, said the mayor of the municipality, Duško Dakić.

According to him, teams on duty are on the ground and monitoring the situation.

He added that the level of rivers has increased due to the melting of snow and heavy rainfall in the area of ​​this municipality.
