The majority of the microcredit organizations, members of the Association of Microcredit Organizations AMFI that have a market share in BiH of 98 percent, had a positive financial result in 2012. Representatives of this association presented the business results of this sector from last year at a conference for journalists in Sarajevo today. The President of the AMFI Board Sadina Bina said that positive changes are evident in the work of the microcredit organizations.
“The number of loans in the past year has increased by 20 percent in relation to 2010, and the amount of loans granted by nearly 8 percent in comparison to 2011. Yet, one cannot speak about complete stabilization, given the economic situation in the country and limiting the legal framework for the operations of the microcredit organizations’’, added Bina.
Member of the AMFI Board Braco Erceg said that these organizations in BiH from 1996, with its microcredit activities, gave and continue to give an important contribution to the overall social-economic recovery and development of BIH in reducing poverty and increasing the employment rate. The microcredit sector in BiH is assessed as one of the most successful in the world. This was confirmed in two studies on the social impact of microcredit in BiH performed under the auspices of the World Bank. The prestigious certificate handed out for client protection in the framework of the global project “Smart Campaign” from two members of the association-Microfinance foundations “Partner” and “Eki” marked 2013.
