The Presidency of the Society of the Red Cross/Cross of Bosnia and Herzegovina (DCK BiH) has approved financial aid for the Red Cross of Slovenia in order to support the humanitarian activities it implements as a result of the floods that affected the population of the Republic of Slovenia.

“Namely, at the extraordinary session of the Presidency of DCK BiH, a decision was made to approve funds in the amount of 10,000 euros, in order to urgently support the humanitarian efforts of the Red Cross/Cross of Slovenia in response to the floods,” it is stated.

As it was pointed out, in a conversation with the Secretary General of the DCK BiH Namik Hodžić, the Secretary General of the Red Cross/Cross of Slovenia Cvetka Tomin, the Red Cross/Cross of Slovenia launched an action to collect money for the population affected by floods. He points out that road communications are almost destroyed, which is why the distribution of goods and forms of aid is a huge challenge. In response to the floods, more than 150 professionals and 350 volunteers of the Red Cross/Cross in Slovenia were engaged

“In accordance with the highlighted needs of the Red Cross/Cross of Slovenia, DCK BiH launched an appeal for help to the vulnerable population of Slovenia amid the floods that hit that country. The humanitarian number 17023 has been activated, by calling you donate 2 BAM, and a dedicated humanitarian account has been launched to collect other types of aid, i.e. funds to help the population of that country. (Funds can be paid into the account of the Red Cross Society/cross of BiH number 1340011130004680, bank name: ASA Banka d.d. Sarajevo, bank address: Fra Anđela Zvizdovića 1/A, 71000 Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.),” it is stated.

Striving to support all aspects of the humanitarian response to the floods that affected the population of the Republic of Slovenia, the Society of the Red Cross/Cross of Bosnia and Herzegovina made available to the Red Cross/Cross of Slovenia a team for psychosocial support, as well as expert staff in the field of disaster preparation and response.

As stated in the press release of DCK BiH, the Republic of Slovenia points out that the floods that the country is currently facing are the biggest natural disaster that has affected the population of Slovenia. They requested international assistance in the form of excavators, specialized vehicles, prefabricated bridges, helicopters and soldiers trained for protection, rescue and field operations.
