The introduction of a new uniform for all police agencies in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which, among other things, is conditioned by the adoption of a new regulation on a uniform police uniform, should be made concrete soon.

“I expect that the decree on the uniform uniform will be sent to the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for a statement in the next few days,” Federal Minister of the Interior Ramo Isak told Fena news agency on the occasion.

At the same time, he pointed out that since the beginning of his mandate, he has been actively conducting discussions with the federal prime minister and members of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to find funds for the purchase of uniforms for the needs of all police officers.

In this context, the Federal Minister of the Interior reminds of the consultations with international partners, aimed at finding the necessary funds for the implementation of the aforementioned initiative.

“I consulted with several international partners regarding the financing of unique uniforms, and from whom I asked for financial support when it comes to the purchase of uniforms for the needs of all policemen in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including the Federal Police Administration and the cantonal ministries of interior affairs,” specifies Isak.

Namely, the initiative on the need to develop a new police uniform in the Federation of BiH was launched at the meeting of the Coordination of Directors of the Federal Police Administration and Commissioners/Directors of the Police Administrations of the Cantonal Ministries of Internal Affairs on September 16, 2020, since then, continuous work has been carried out on its implementation.

As it was told in the FMUP, in January 2021, a Commission was formed to draft a regulation on a uniform police uniform and technical characteristics of a uniform police uniform in the FBiH, as well as other regulations that define that area, and which, in addition to representatives of the Federal Police Administration, also included representatives of the cantonal ministries of interior affairs, which completed their work in April this year.

The currently valid Regulation on the uniform police uniform in the FBiH from 2010 has only three pages, while the new regulation on the 41 page decisively defines all the parameters that determine, not only the parts of the uniform, but also the processes – assignment, replacement and discharge of police uniforms, time and manner of wearing the police uniform, police insignia, list of parts of police uniforms with quantities for assignment and terms of use…

Also, the types and components of police uniforms are defined, including basic police uniforms, uniforms for criminal police, special police units and units for specialist support, and uniforms for intervention police, i.e. formal police uniforms and police uniforms for work abroad.

The new regulation also defines additional parts of the police uniform, including additional parts of the basic police uniform for police officers-cyclists and police officers-motorcyclists, as well as additional parts of the uniform for the criminal police, for members of the special police unit and specialist support unit, and for police officers who perform counter-subversion protection duties and for police officers who work on the duties of direct protection of VIPs.

In the meantime, the draft regulation on the uniform uniform of police forces in the Federation of BiH has received a positive opinion from the FBiH Government Office for Legislation and Compliance with European Union Regulations.
