The Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vedran Lakić, speaking about the course of his visit to the United States so far, said that the focus of the talks with the hosts was the Southern Interconnection project, as well as trade.

“We used our stay in the USA for the benefit of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The focus of the Federal Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry is certainly the discussion on the Southern Interconnection. We communicated with several officials, first of all at the State Department and with the Special Envoy for Europe and Eurasia, where we touched on all the important circumstances concerning the Southern Interconnection,” Lakić said.

He added that they also visited the Department of Economy, where we mostly communicated about trade between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States.

“We touched on perhaps the most important topic, which is the tariffs of the United States of America for Bosnia and Herzegovina, and we asked that the possibility of abolishing these tariffs be considered in the coming period. Our specialized industry views the United States market as one of the most important. However, these tariffs certainly do not make our future work easier, so I sincerely hope that these tariffs will be abolished for Bosnia and Herzegovina in the coming period,” said Lakić.

A delegation of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić, is visiting the United States of America, and the delegation also includes the Federal Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Vedran Lakić, and the Federal Minister of Displaced Persons and Refugees Nerin Dizdar.

Incidentally, the delegation of Bosnia and Herzegovina during its visit to the United States of America is led by the Deputy Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zukan Helez, the Public Relations Office of the Government of the Federation of BiH announced.
