Remains of Missing Person found near Zvornik

The investigator of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Prosecutor’s Office, in the Planincici locality in the municipality of Zvornik, coordinated the process of exhumation and the search for the remains of missing persons.

Human remains were found on the ground – bones of human origin, which will be transported to the Tuzla Commemorative Center for further forensic-medical processing and determination of the person’s identity through DNA analysis. These are the remains of at least one person, and further forensic medical processing will determine how many people the remains are.

According to available information, it is most likely a victim of Bosniak nationality from the area of Zvornik.

The exhumation is attended by a forensic pathologist, representatives of the Institute for Missing Persons (INO) of BiH, as well as police officers from Police Station Zvornik, who provide police support and secure the location, the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH stated in the press release.
