In the area of the municipality of Rogatica, at a site in the settlement of Rudo, an exhumation procedure was carried out and the complete remains of one person were found and the subsequent process will determine the identity of the victim.
The exhumation process was led by the Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and representatives of the Institute for Missing Persons of BiH, the ICMP in BiH, a forensic doctor and police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) and the Rogatica Police Station.
Due to the knowledge that the remains of at least 19 more victims could be found at that site, in the coming period, excavation will be done on locating potential individual and mass graves and searching for the remains.
The found remains were transported to Gorazde, where forensic processing will be used to determine the cause of death, and bone samples will be taken to determine the identity of the victim by DNA analysis.
