An artillery shell fired by the aggressor from around Sarajevo on September 3rd, 1992 on the Street Cekalusa, by number 33, five died – of which three were children – and two were heavily wounded.

In honor of that, the Association of Parents of Killed Children during the Siege of Sarajevo 1992 – 1995, on Sunday, September 3rd, 2017 organized a laying of flowers by the memorial that was laid there as a sign of eternal remembrance of that tragic day.

In front of the Municipality of Center, the chairperson of the Municipal Council Karolina Karcic and an adviser to the mayor Musfa Resic, laid flowers.

On that day in 1992, due to the visit of an American delegate to Sarajevo, there was a cease-fire, without shooting. It was nice weather and children left bunkers to play in front of their buildings. The first shell fired landed in the yard of the mosque Cekalusa, just two meters from where the children were sitting: Miza Hodzic (11) and his borther Adnan (12), Vedran Stimac (12), Sanela Lukacvic (21) and Faruk Nisic (32), while two further were wounded: Vedran Lukacevic (today, a 60% invalid) and Vanja Stimac (today 100% invalid).
