Bajramovic: Decisions on the Demonstrations and the Strike by the End of the Week

ismetThe President of the Independent Unions Association (SSS) of B&H Ismet Bajramovic said yesterday after the consultative meeting with the representatives from the branching unions, that by the end of the week the Main Board of the SSS of B&H will decide on holding the protests in front of the building of the Government of FB&H, as well as on the calling to account and the dismissal of the Federal government.

When asked about the announced general strike, Bajramovic said that its holding will be necessary if the employers protract the adjusting of the general collective contract, and that the strike will be directed towards them, not the Government, since now the employers are the signatories of that contract instead of the Government.

Bajramovic added that the SSS of B&H will attempt to dispute the new Labor Law at the Constitutional Court of B&H, because they consider it unconstitutionally adopted in the both Houses of the Parliament of FB&H, and that they have sent a request for its review to the International Labor Association. Furthermore, they expect the support of the International Union Confederation for those activities.

Bajramovic stated that the members of the SSS of B&H will be sent the instructions with the listed workers’ rights that have been reduced by the new law, and the guidelines that represent the biggest threat for them.

The President of the Independent Union of the Mine Workers of B&H Sinan Husic said that the line ministry will be asked for an answer on whether their employer is the Board of Elektroprivreda B&H or the Board of the Mines in order to know with whom to adjust the collective contract, of which he expects to be better than the current one.
