The delegation of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in the 53rd European INTERPOL Conference, which was held in Toledo (Spain).

The regional conference was attended by more than 100 delegates from 54 European INTERPOL member countries, and the delegation of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of BiH consisted of the Acting Assistant Director of the Sector for International Operational Police Cooperation Kristina Jozić, the Head of the NCB Interpol Sarajevo Department Miroslav Nešić, and the Expert Advisor Edin Ćehović.

The conference was opened by Valdecy Urquiza, Secretary General of INTERPOL, Lucas Philippe, President of INTERPOL, and Aina Calvo Sastre, State Secretary for Security of the Kingdom of Spain.

During the conference, it was emphasized that, at a time when globalization creates new opportunities for transnational crime, strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation is crucial for effectively countering common security threats. It was emphasized that INTERPOL’s strength lies in its ability to connect different systems and perspectives into a single framework for global police agency action.

During the two-day session, senior police officials discussed the ways in which criminal networks exploit security vulnerabilities in the real and virtual environments, as well as the increased exploitation of digital platforms. Special attention was paid to the trend of using “crime as a service” and the operation of fraud centers, which further facilitate the commission of financial crime and various forms of fraud.

Special sessions emphasized the need for joint work, coordination and mutual complementarity of INTERPOL and EUROPOL activities, as key prerequisites for successfully confronting modern security challenges.

The European INTERPOL Regional Conference represents a significant opportunity to establish direct contacts among the member countries of this international organization, as well as to conduct important discussions with the aim of improving international police cooperation.

The delegation of Bosnia and Herzegovina also held a series of bilateral meetings with the aim of specifying the modalities of future cooperation between NCB INTERPOL Sarajevo and partner services in areas of mutual interest, the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of BiH announced.
