Bascarsija_squareSarajevo – The mayor of the Municipality Stari Grad Ibrahim Hadžibajrić and the director of the Turkish agency for coordination and cooperation in B&H (TIKA) Fatih Karaca signed today the Protocol about the cooperation on the project “Pavage of the Baščaršija Square”.

The estimated value of the project is 1.100.000 BAM. The works will begin on October 5th this year, and if the weather conditions allow it, it will last 120 days.

The project is financed by the Municipality Stari Grad and the Municipality Osmangazi from Bursa in Turkey.

As Hadžibajrić explained it, TIKA has, by signing today the Protocol, engaged itself to execute the tender procedure and the selection of those to do the works until their end and the technical reception. Calls for tenders will be released in September.

This is a historical moment for the representative of TIKA, Fatih Karaca, because the city squares reflect the soul of towns and people and the Baščaršija Square has such a long history.

“The town squares reflect the soul of towns and people. There are so many beautiful places in Sarajevo, but Baščaršija is still the most beautiful and most visited and has such a long history, and I hope – the future as well.” – said Karaca, expressing his satisfaction with the signed Protocol.
